Notes on automation and tooling
Two pieces about building software for practical problems: where automation actually helps, what it takes to keep it running, and the reasoning behind a local-first tool.
- 12 March 2026 Automating Your Business with AI A 2004 malware-cleanup script started it. Two decades later the lesson is the same: pick the repetitive task worth removing, learn the system around it, and build something you can still support in a year. Includes where AI helps, what to automate first, and the security and design basics that decide whether the result holds up.
- 18 March 2026 Why I Built JobPulse AI Why a local-first job-search assistant was the right shape for the problem: PHP 8.1, Tailwind, Alpine.js, Tiptap, Gemini, and flat JSON storage — plus the roadmap for mock interviews, form auto-fill, and résumé analytics.
Both pieces were originally published in March 2026. There's no fixed publishing schedule — these appear when there's something worth writing down.
Questions about any of this?
If you're working through something similar — a support queue, an automation project, a local AI setup — I'm glad to compare notes.
